About Us
The Africa Horticultural Circle (AHC) is a pan-African community dedicated to advancing the Green economy across Africa bringing together commercial growers, livestock farmers, garden enthusiasts, plant collectors, green entrepreneurs, and nature lovers empowering members to increase income, improve harvests, restore wellbeing, beautify spaces, feed their family and contribute to a greener and more resilient Africa.
At the Africa Horticultural Circle (AHC), our work is built around two complementary pillars: Advocacy & Sensitisation and Green Literacy.
Through Advocacy & Sensitisation, we promote awareness, influence conversations and encourage individuals, organisations, institutions and governments to take action towards a greener, healthier, and more responsible Africa.
Through Green Literacy, we create opportunities for people to gain practical knowledge, deepen their understanding of plants, horticulture, green spaces and responsible stewardship, and learn directly from practitioners and experts.
Together, these two pillars enable AHC to move people from awareness to understanding, and from understanding to action.
PILLAR ONE
AHC's Advocacy & Sensitisation work focuses on five key areas:
We advocate and sensitise for greener spaces and communities through space adoption, urban greening, pocket forests, urban forests, community growing and supportive greening policies.
We promote greater awareness of the importance of trees, plants and green spaces and encourage individuals, organisations, institutions and governments to recognise the value of greening and incorporate it into their environments.
PILLAR TWO
Green Literacy & Learning will be delivered through:
Organised virtual visits to gardens, farms, nurseries, parks, forests, horticultural facilities and other relevant green spaces.
Participants learn by observing real environments, understanding how they are managed and engaging with the people responsible for them.
Experienced practitioners and experts lead practical learning sessions.
These sessions allow participants to see horticultural and green practices demonstrated in real or controlled settings and understand how they can be applied.
Interactive sessions where participants can engage practitioners, experts and leaders directly.
AMAs provide opportunities for participants to ask questions, clarify concepts and learn from the experience of people working across different areas of horticulture and greening.
Conversations with experienced horticulturists, growers, floriculture professionals, and green entrepreneurs who answer questions from working in the green sector.
Through these conversations, participants gain practical knowledge, inspiration, and lessons they can apply to their own growing activities, businesses, and communities.
Structured learning sessions led by practitioners and subject-matter experts.
Masterclasses provide deeper learning around selected topics within horticulture, plants, gardens, greening, stewardship and related areas.
In essence, Advocacy & Sensitisation creates awareness and encourages action, while Green Literacy & Learning builds the knowledge and understanding needed to sustain that action.

The Green Literacy Mastery Series is a structured annual educational program delivered through the AHC Community. Made up of tool kits and practical knowledge, it is designed to increase your income, improve your harvest, restore your health, beautify your space, and feed your family.
The Green Literacy Mastery Series operates within a twelve-month annual cycle, and this unusually styled program which is both therapeutic and educational bypassing the traditional module style and is delivered by masters in the field of green literacy.
